Interest Level:  will appeal to older teens up to adults
Podcast Overview:
17-year old Sammy Jaye interviews celebrities, singers, social media influencers, musicians and a whole host of important people.  Her interviews are very casual and conversational and the adults spill information.  In her most recent podcast, she spoke with Rachel Platten, singer known for her hit song “Fight Song.” The discuss the stresses of being an artist, the misconception that artists are unstable and explosive like volcanos, and the need to create and to keep creating art.

Host Background:
Jaye was born in 2002 in New York City.  She is currently a senior in high school and has been podcasting since she was 13.  Thanks to a family friend, she got her first job working for Radio Disney as their East Coast correspondent.  She is currently the youngest person to have a nationally syndicated podcast (Santiago-Cortez, 2020).
Critical Evaluation:
Sammy Jaye scores some pretty impressive guests in her podcasts including political activists, singers, actors etc and I think her youth disarms them into talking and sharing more information than they normally would if they were talking to a “professional” interviewer.  You can tell, listening to her voice, that she is young, a teenager in fact, but her questions, though simple are nicely open-ended so the gets the guests talking the entire time.  The tone of the interviews are always congenial.  She tends to ask a lot of “How would you…” questions then lets the guest respond at length. The length of the podcast varies from 30-45 minutes and the production is very professional with music signalling breaks and endings.
Creative Use for a Library Program:
Podcasting skills as a collaborative project with any of the subject teachers.  Students would be taught how to conduct interviews and they could do a 3-5 segment interview of teachers and students in the school.

Short TV Trailer:
Want to hear what Ke$ha, Luis Miranda, or Rachel Platten really think? Tune in to Let’s be Real with Sammy Jaye on your Spotify, Apple Podcast or wherever you listen to podcasts.

Potential Challenge Issues and Defense Preparation:
None.  This podcast is clean and professionally created.

Reason for Inclusion:
I wanted to hear what Gen-Z podcasters are talking about and found this on the recommendation of a few Gen-Z YouTubers who, at the height of the pandemic last summer, found themselves sharing podcasts they recommended.
